Oksana, a forward-thinking English teacher from Kyiv, took part in the MovED by Mentoring pilot program in the spring of 2024 as a mentee. She found immense value in the mentoring sessions with her Finnish mentor, keynote presentations, and the discussions with fellow teachers in group sessions.

As a mentor in the MovED by Mentoring program, the best part has been establishing a direct connection with a colleague in Ukraine. We've exchanged ideas about education and school development.

Finnish Teachers Mentored Ukrainian colleagues in the MovED by Mentoring Program, which concluded at the end of March 2024. All participating Ukrainian and Finnish teachers reported feeling empowered, supported, and equipped with new insights for their work. Direct assistance between professionals appears to be both necessary and effective based on the pilot's experiences.

Finnish Global Education Solutions Oy (FGES) and the Ministry of Good Spirit have supported the MovED by Mentoring program with donations that allow us to pay a donation for the Ukrainian teachers attending the program.

We will initiate peer-to-peer mentoring to Ukrainian teachers named MovED by mentoring. This ensures that the support goes directly from Finnish teacher to Ukrainian colleague. You can change the world for the better by helping one child. When you help one Ukrainian teacher, you help many Ukrainian children and create hope for the future of Ukraine.

Direct action, direct connections, showing up and an ongoing dialogue are what organisations like MovED can and should be about. Based on the findings from our field trips and research insights, MovED has created a targeted response, the MoVED by mentoring programme.

MovED: A movement born from compassion for Ukraine. Originally Voices for Freedom NGO, the team sought a name reflecting their mission: education, action, and global impact. The creative process led to "MovED," symbolizing positive change, growth, and a call to action. It embodies ongoing discovery, enlightenment, and empowerment in education.
